How good is the iGPSPORT BSC200, one of the cheapest GPS bike computers with navigation on the market ?
A few weeks ago, I discovered iGPSPORT, a brand still not very well known in Europe but already well established on platforms like Amazon, AliExpress, and through its official website.
Prices vary depending on where you buy it, but in reality, AliExpress remains the most attractive option. You can often find the iGPSPORT BSC200 for around €29, sometimes even less during promotions.
At that price, one question always comes up.
What can a GPS bike computer with navigation for under €30 actually offer?
And more importantly, can it be a credible alternative to much more expensive computers from Garmin, Wahoo, Bryton, or Coros?
The answer is simple. It doesn’t compete in the same league, but it also doesn’t play in the same price range. And that’s exactly where the BSC200 becomes interesting.
Connectivity and sensor compatibility
The iGPSPORT BSC200 delivers a very positive surprise with its complete connectivity.
It is compatible with most sensors on the market via ANT+ and Bluetooth.
It can easily be paired with:
power meters
cadence and speed sensors
heart rate monitors
rear radars
Synchronization with Strava, TrainingPeaks, or Komoot is automatic after every ride. At this price level, that is clearly a strong point.
The computer also allows smartphone notifications to be displayed. The feature exists, but readability remains limited on a black and white screen. It is clearly not the product’s main selling point.
Garmin mount and compatibility
The BSC200 comes with a simple but effective rubber strap stem mount.
For a few extra euros, a bundle with an aero mount is available and offers a cleaner integration on a road handlebar.
Good news, the computer uses a Garmin-compatible mount, just like the entire iGPSPORT range. This allows you to use existing mounts without any adaptation.
Battery life and charging
When it comes to battery life, iGPSPORT claims up to 30 hours of GPS use, a very solid figure for a computer in this category.
In real use, battery life is comfortable and allows several rides without recharging.
Charging is done via USB C, an appreciated detail and now an essential one.
Screen and ergonomics
The iGPSPORT BSC200 is equipped with a non-touch black and white screen, but one that remains very readable, even in direct sunlight.
It is obviously far from the visual comfort of a color display, but the essentials are perfectly clear.
Menu navigation is handled through physical buttons, practical even while wearing gloves.
Several data pages can be displayed during the ride with all the expected metrics on a GPS bike computer (speed, distance, time, elevation gain, power, heart rate, and altitude thanks to a barometric altimeter, a real plus at this price level).
GPS navigation, the main weakness
Navigation is clearly the area where the BSC200 shows its limits.
The route is displayed correctly and guidance is generally accurate.
Instructions are clear, but the overall experience remains basic.
There is no automatic route recalculation.
If you go off course, the computer strongly insists on returning to the original track, sometimes excessively.
Roads outside the route are barely shown or not shown at all, which limits improvisation.
Another point to note, some simple turns are announced as intersections, which can be confusing, especially in urban environments.
Navigation remains usable, but in my opinion it is the main area for improvement for iGPSPORT, including on their more recent models.
Who is the iGPSPORT BSC200 for?
The BSC200 is not aimed at cyclists looking for advanced navigation for bikepacking or long adventures abroad.
On the other hand, it is perfectly suited for:
beginner cyclists
those who mainly ride in their local area
as a first GPS bike computer
for a young teenager
to avoid using Strava directly on a smartphone
At this price, it offers a far more reliable and comfortable solution than a phone, without draining its battery.
Verdict
Yes, the iGPSPORT BSC200 has its flaws.
But a GPS bike computer with navigation for under €30 and no compromises would almost be suspicious.
For its price, it offers:
excellent sensor compatibility
solid battery life
reliable GPS
functional navigation
a real alternative to using a smartphone
The iGPSPORT BSC200 is an excellent entry point into the world of GPS bike computers, without a major investment.
Other models from the brand will be tested soon, including the BSC300T and the high-end BiNavi model.
